I doubt whether I want to read the book. Because I do not read in the reviews what you can do differently after reading it. {Response publisher}: Dear DB, The book focusses on describing the problem. The research done goes further than other economists describe. In the reviews you can see that this is the case: the book also appears to be an eye opener for financial professionals. The research has gone to extremes and with that a solution has surfaced. However, the primary goal of the book is to spread awareness. Without this awareness a solution will not be able to settle. And yet ... at the insistence of Cornucopia, Reinout has outlines the solution in this book using a practical example.
Well explained in clear language, I already knew quitte some things having read another book about this topic, but this book really gives the full insight, there is nothing to come in between. Recommended, I say as an accountant ;=))
Read!!! I hope that the solution will really come. Until then, as an accountant, I can do nothing but follow the old, but clearly wrong, way of thinking. With this review, I hope to contribute to spreading economic awareness and I will of course recommend this book here and there. Very well written, certainly not only aimed at financial professionals, although I initially thought so when I saw the subtitle.
This book opened my eyes, the deception is unimaginable, an elephant in the room that I have never seen. I can recommend everyone to read it. I am an accountant, and my wife, who has an artistic background, can also follow the explanation well. In order to be able to explain it to others myself, I read the research again. And also because the book describes and explains dozens of practical situations from society in addition to the main subject. The second time I saw a few things that only really hit me at that moment. Maybe I will read it again next year, the writing style is not boring in any case and I like practical facts, fiction is not really my thing.
Knowing leads to a question of conscience, Cornucopia writes on the first page. Well, that's right, that's what ran into. As an economics teacher, I can only confirm what Cornucopia writes, even though it deviates from the teaching and examination material we are working with. How to deal with this? This research has put me in a dilemma. Do I continue with the inaccuracies in the teaching materials or do I tell the truth (which deviates from the knowledge you as a student are expected to reproduce during tests and examinations)?
I have no loans and borrowed the book from a friend. I now understand that we are all being misled, it doesn't matter if you have 'debts' or lots of 'money' in a savings account. Everyone should read this book.
Just read the book by Cornucopia and Reinout. I am a bit older and I feel so cheated. My whole life I thought I had a mortgage debt and now it turns out that it was never financed. For the coming year I already know what I am going to give family and friends as a present for their birthday, everyone should actually read this.
The book has given me answers and insights to questions I had about money and about our monetary system. I would like to receive a source reference where the information, for example legislation, can be found that is described (p. 60/61) and is essential for the statements that are made. {Publisher's response} The article of law can be found in the Financial Supervision Act (WFT): Section 4.3.1.2 Electronic Money, Article 4:31. Thank you for your question, we will try to include this information in the next edition. {End publisher's response}
Pfff, unbelievable, the bankers should stop bothering us immediately. If they don't do it voluntarily, they deserve bars with bread and water as far as I'm concerned.
I met Reinout at black box T.V., during his first lecture. The lecture is recommended and complementary to the book, I really heard new things. Good job! Also had my book signed ;=)
I thought that, as a critic of the monetary system, I knew how the monetary system works ... not so, at least not into the last details! Reinout and Cornucopia explain perfectly where the missing link is that critics do not yet see. I therefore hope that other critics will also read this book. It would be nice to have everyone on the same page and work together on a solution.
Cornucopia and Reinout, many thanks for this beautiful book. I have never been so good with numbers. Now I understand for the first time, at the age of 44, how the monetary system works from A to Z and that (especially why) we have always paid too much to the bank.
Wow, this book has opened my eyes wide. I know that lawyer Spong has called Rabobank a criminal bank for another reason, but that label can be put on all banks.
Thank you for this beautiful book.
Everyone has a bank account, so everyone should read this. Great book, I'm definitely going to advertise.
Just read!
What seems like a complex subject, based on the title, is explained in understandable language. As an assistant accountant, I happen to know about numbers, but I think that almost everyone can follow this story well. Every now and then there are sidesteps to other subjects, which makes the book nice and light reading, just like the almost jovial style. Very educational book. Gradually I realised what is wrong with what I learned in college. In particular, that the starting point of what money is and how banks finance is not taught correctly, which means that all subjects that are based on it or derived from it are incorrect. Cornucopia explains exactly where the teachers (and therefore we as graduates) lose it. I am very curious about the solution that also seems to exist, because Cornucopia's judgment on the monetary system is disastrous and I cannot disagree with him on any part. In addition to developing a solution, I think that the teaching programmes should also be adjusted.
I learned a lot from this book, it contains a few huge eye openers. This should be compulsory reading at every school and university. As a former banker I once went to a primary school to explain to the children how money and banks work, now it turns out that not much was right. Just like Reinout didn't see it when he still worked at the banks, I didn't see it either, but what he writes is completely correct.
I am not really into numbers but I could follow the explanation well. I belong to the group that intuitively knew that something is wrong, but could never put my finger on the sore spot. Now I understand it and I can explain it, not like Cornucopia, but in my own way, I tested this on my boyfriend ;=))
I have been an accountant at an administration office for 14 years and have always seen that money not only simplifies exchange, but also causes damage; this damage is much bigger than I ever thought. Cornucopia and Reinout have described this very well, compliments, and I completely understand why all the accountants and bookkeepers he has spoken to, confirm his story, I would like to agree with that. Everyone should read this if you really want to understand how the economy works and, very practically, how you (everyone) are affected.
What a revelation. I had no idea. I knew that our economy has many victims and only a few 'winners', but I was never able to figure out why, got stuck in the complexity. Now I know exactly how it works, why it is wrong and why we really need to organise it differently. The book also tells me that this can be done completely debt-free, which is great. On the one hand I am angry about the fact that I am being scammed and on the other hand I am hopeful that the problem can be solved.
Read, read, read!!!
How we have been ripped off, including me as an ex-bank employee, and still. I had already read some critical articles about fiat money and fractional reserve banking, those stories all have the same line of thought, but this book continues where the rest stops and the conclusion is much worse than I have read in other books and heard in podcasts so far. As it is written, there is no discussion possible, you cannot interpret the facts and only read them in one way. Excellent! It is also nice that there is hope for a solution.
Reinout. Finished your book. Fascinating to read. My mind is working overtime. I already saw the problem, but now I have the basics to talk about it with people.
Thank you very much!! Congratulations on your work!!
The book was a real eye opener and also a lot of confirmation of gut feeling.
I read the book in one go, and I really think it is a book that everyone should read. A friend of mine, who I told about it, also ordered this book right away. And actually I would like to pass on the knowledge that is explained step by step, in this easy to read book. Explain to people what is wrong with the basics that we have been taught about the 'monetary system'.
A presumably boring subject turns out to be written in a light-hearted and recognisable way, easy to read for the economic and legal layman.
Well structured and written in understandable language. Contains an illuminating message, astonishing facts and impressive personal stories from experts. The book has made me curious about what the future will bring when this knowledge/awareness is shared with a larger audience. In short: read and be surprised!
Simply a great book. Well written.
A nice book to read. Despite the fact that I 'don't like money' I read this book very quickly and with pleasure. It confirms to me that there is no value in money. If we want to do things differently, we will have to start thinking differently. This book offers a very good contribution to this. My thanks!
A must read for anyone who wants to face the future with confidence. There is still a lot to discover, this book gives you exciting new insights about how we can give our society the right push to survive.
